Every monitor has a "native" resolution at which the image is sharpest. Setting a different resolution causes blur.
If text is too small on a 4K monitor, increase scaling to 125-150% instead of lowering the resolution.
Not just resolution matters, but also screen size:
24" Full HD = 92 PPI (normal)
27" Full HD = 82 PPI (large pixels)
27" 4K = 163 PPI (excellent)
Resolution and refresh rate are related. 4K at 144 Hz requires a powerful cable (DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1).
Not every graphics card supports high resolutions. Check the maximum resolution in the specifications.
| Use Type | Minimum PPI |
|---|---|
| Office work | 90 |
| Design | 110 |
| Retina quality | 200+ |
Compare resolutions in the Screen Resolution Reference.
