Fill up the tank and record your mileage. At the next refueling: liters × 100 / km traveled = consumption.
A difference of 15→20 MPG saves more than a difference of 30→40 MPG. This is the inverse value: in liters per 100 km the difference is 15.7→11.8 and 7.8→5.9, respectively.
City consumption is usually 30–50% higher than highway consumption. Manufacturers indicate a combined cycle.
| Factor | Increase in consumption |
|---|---|
| Air conditioning | +10–15% |
| Aggressive riding | +20–30% |
| Underinflated tires | +5–10% |
| Roof rack | +5–15% |
| Traffic jams (idling) | +30–50% |
For electric vehicles, an analogue is used: ~15–20 kWh/100 km. At an electricity price of 6 rubles/kWh: 90–120 rubles/100 km vs 500–800 rubles/100 km on gasoline.
