Tips for working with barcodes

1. Maintain minimum size

EAN-13 must be at least 26.26 mm wide and 17.77 mm high. A reduction below 80% of the nominal value disrupts readability.

2. Provide a quiet area

There must be empty space to the left and right of the barcode - at least 5 mm on each side.

3. Use contrasting colors

Ideal - black stripes on a white background. A red background is not acceptable - the scanners use a red laser.

4. Do not stretch horizontally

Changing the proportions breaks the width of the bars and makes the code unreadable. Scale proportionally.

5. Check the check digit

The last digit of EAN-13 is the control digit. Our generator calculates it automatically.

6. Test before mass printing

Print a test sample and check readability with a scanner or smartphone app.
